I can't speak for the general opinion. However, I believe like many do, that a steady diet of +P in any Detective Special including the issue with the shroud is to be avoided. I also believe that used occasionally, the +P will do no harm.

My opinion is that if you want to feed your Colt snub a steady diet of +P, then the later SF framed (SFVI, DSII, Magnum Carry) guns are better suited to handle the task.

My 1932 D.S. is shot with 158 gr. lead SWCs over 4.5 Unique for practice,and as you said,about 50 rds a year,tops,and for carry,with 158 SWCHPs lead,over 5.5 Unique. Tyler adapter helps keep recoil/recovery managable! Bud

What's the general opinion of +P loads in the Dtective Special? Mine is late enough to have have the ejector shround on the under side of the barrel.
