I have a 22 Diamondback in Excellent condition. It constantly has light strikes in Double action. I have replaced the main spring 3 times with anew spring each time. yet it still has several light strikes each time I shoot it. Any suggestions as to how to rectify the issue? Really frustrating.
Thanks

Were the springs genuine Colt or reproduction?

First one was genuine Colt part. The next 2 were aftermarket. I cant seem to find another genuine Colt spring. Though at-this point, i’m not thinking another spring change is going to make any difference.
I may need to look into the other suggestions given here.
This gun was virtually new in the box, so I dont feel cleaning is the solution.
Thanks to all who posted replies. If I get it sorted out, I’ll let ya know.

There is a way to put some more "oomph" in the V springs, but it sounds like the spring power isn't your problem. The problem likely lies elsewhere.

Such as the firing pin, or even the DA strut on the hammer, since this is occurring in DA & not in SA. I'm sure there could be other culprits too.

Would need somebody who knows what they're doing to take a look at it. Unless you have mechanical aptitude, then get the Jerry K. shop manual & examine it yourself.

First step is to get an M16 military bore brush and clean the chambers.
The M16 bore brush is slightly large and a much stiffer bristle.
This is ideal for cleaning chambers but don't use it in the barrel, for that use a standard .22 bore brush.

Possible reasons for poor ignition....
Dirty chambers.
Short damaged, or altered firing pin.
Weak or poor quality aftermarket mainspring.
Excess cylinder head space.
Excessive cylinder end shake.
Short hammer drop caused by improper double action strut.
Dirty-fouled-old dried lubricant in the action.

Colt double action revolvers seem to have to be fired in one continuous motion, almost like gripping the trigger.

My Official Police .22 will misfire with anything other than CCI Mini-Mags.

Most of the misfires I experience with my Colt's have been with reloads.
