Diamondback .22 Sights (Red Front Ramp, White Outline Rear)

I suspect this is an elementary question from a newbie. On a Diamondback.... what is the red front, white rear sight option called? Was it special order? Is it common or rare? About what % have the option? Did the Python also have this sight option? Much appreciated!

I don't believe it was a factory option, probably installed by a gunsmith at some point. Have to see what others say.
None of mine have this. A lot fo my S&W revolvers have these features but none of my Colt D backs (except the one someone put a yellow insert into)
If your Diamondback is a 2 1/2 inch or 4 inch model it's not factory since only the 6 inch Diamondback had a pinned-in front sight.
Installing a red ramp in a sight made as part of the barrel was too easy to botch the job and ruin the entire barrel, so if they did put red inserts in late Diamondbacks it would have been only on the 6 inch model.

chaosrob nailed it. It is called "the Smith & Wesson option". If you have Colt set up that way the sights are after market
Thanks for replies. Gunbroker listing #367995128 is so equipped. Factory or aftermarket?
I do have a 2.5" .38 Diamondback that had the red ramp and white outline installed at Colt when I returned the gun for those items plus a trigger job. So they did do it, this was early 1980's. Did all the work very nice too.
I should have added that red ramp front and white outline rear was something Colt would do on special order in later years, but it was not done on standard production guns.....AS FAR as I know.
I keep forgetting, NEVER assume ANYTHING about Colt.

I have no idea just how early Colt would do a custom red ramp front sight on a revolver, but the white outline was something from a later time, since you have to have special sight blades manufactured with the stamped groove for the paint.
A red insert could be done much easier and so I suspect was probably offered much earlier.
white outline rear ,red ramp front sight .standard on the King Cobra, have seen stainless pythons from the factory in box with them
