A poster on our Bullseye shooting listserv recently purchased this .38 Super that was converted to .38 Special wadcutter by some unknown smith.

If anyone can tell me the DOB by the serial number or has any ideas who might have done the conversion, I'd be happy to pass along the information.

BTW - according to the new owner, the barrel is marked .38 Super not .38 Special like the Clark conversions.

It looks that the pistol was made up of different parts since that the frame does not have a serial number in the 70 series range which starts at 70S0001. www.proofhouse.com has the serial number charts. Your frame might of come from a earlier 38 super 101491 would place it at 1952. I think your pistol would only have value as a shooter. Bob

I love it! "Just a shooter" or not. I know if I had it, it would get shot a lot! Congrats on a really unique piece.
