DOB on 4\" Python

V03511. Also how do I tell the finish? It's either SS or nickel.

I'll take a good guess as 1979. You can call Colt and they can tell you.
One quick test is to use a magnet. Carbon steel will attract a magnet better than stainless steel alloy.

Stainless steel Pythons have an "S" stamped inside the recess for the ejector rod on the barrel, and another stamped in the center bushing of the cylinder underneath the extractor.

Your Python was made in 1980.

The VA series started at VA1001 and ended the series at VA9256 in 1980.
