Doubts on barrel caliber markings

Hello,
I was considering bidding on this .45, 5.5" barrel from 1959 (serial number 255xxSA), but according to my reference books this caliber marking style was adopted only a few years later, in 1963.
So this barrel is probably not original to the gun. What do you think ?
Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't be so quick to suggest its replaced. How do you know it wasn't a frame set aside for engraving and became a standard?

The overall SAA is gorgeous showing no signs of use and has the early two piece special order walnut stocks.

Your talking just a few years and my guess only educated guesses as to when a marking appeared or didnt.

It could be a Colt factory caliber change later? .

If the cylinder is numbered to gun its id bet money its legit. Probably like I said earlier frame set aside for custom work possibly for three years and ended up being used as standard. Your only talking few years. Could also be Colt factory caliber change.

Gun is as new and everything fits and matches perfectly plus it has the early special order two piece walnuts.

Ask them to post photo of cylinder markings.
