Yes, I know it's not a colt but I thought you guys would be the ones to ask about this New Model Army. Here is a link to it. Remington 1858 .44 : Revolvers at GunBroker.com I know the sights are a later addition and it has an old reblue and not original stocks, but has anyone ever seen the U.S. and date markings on the bottom of the back strap and a lanyard ring on one of these?

Feralmerril, Thanks for the reply. Do you think that the lanyard loop is original or added later? Does the price seem fair for this New Army giving it's condition? The alterations don't really bother me if the gun is a real period piece.

Dave, I have about a identical gun. Mine has also been reblued, hog wallow squared up and a old king front sight with a red post insert. Mine shoots great. I have no lettering on the butt.
