I can get the no. for you when I get home. He was either going with the Colt or a Taurus 85UL. I just found out he's going Colt.

I'm really just looking for the generalities.

I may be wrong, but shrouded lug would indicate Gen. 3, right?

Is +P a bad idea (not a steady diet, just a few acclimation SD rounds)?

What will the gun be used for? Nightstand, carry, glove box, shooting pleasure??? What caliber is prefered? Price range? We're all here to help you spend your money. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm not trying to talk you out of the DS, it's one of my favorites but it's my favorite for another reason. See my sig.

Take this 1965 Detective Special in .38 spec. for instance. A scarce 3" barrel with a special order hammer shroud. This gun is currently for sale. It can be shot and only go up in value. Too bad it's got the Tyler grip on it.

As I said, this is my Father-in-law buying for my wife. He wants her to have it as a purse or car gun.

She wants to stick with her Walther, but we really can't say no to a free gun.

Since it will be added to the arsenal, I wanted to know a little about the piece.

For a purse gun he wouldn't go wrong with that $250 DS. I wouldn't use +P ammo but instead use the MagSafe ammo. Less recoil and they WILL take down a bad guy.
