Hi Gang,
At the risk of running afoul of forum rules, I thought you might be interested to read that one of Elvis' Colts is coming up for sale. I have no financial interest here and the only reason I'm posting this is that the fact that Elvis owned this is kinda cool. GWS Auctions is running the sale, and seeing that they aren't known for Colts I thought this interesting piece may have slipped under the radar

Elvis Presley's Personally Owned 1903 Colt Single Action Army 38 Special W/LOA and Letter From Priscilla Presley - This Colt Single Action Army 38 Special belonged to Elvis Presley. In addition to being a talented performer and actor, Elvis had a variety of hobbies, including his love of guns. Elvis is reported to have owned 32 handguns, a shotgun, and a machine gun during his lifetime. His weapons featured ornate and intricate designs befitting of his grandiose style, and this particular weapon is no different. This single action revolver has a gold plated, fully engraved design with a handle made of exotic composition. The serial number dates to 1903. The gun will come with a copy of an original notarized letter of provenance from Jody McQueen, which states that the gun was purchased from the Circle G Ranch auction. The gun also comes with a letter from Priscilla Presley.

I suppose someone who is an Elvis fanatic would want this. I see a rechambered and overpolished SAA with average quality aftermarket engraving in less than excellent condition. Without the Elvis name attached to the gun, it wouldn’t get $5K. But I know it will sell high to some Elvis fan with money.

While not a fan of all go,d plating, I like the engraving. A couple times had breakfast at that truck stop/casino in Sparks, Nevada that has a huge collection of Elvis guns, almost all as I recall Colts and Winchesters. Mostly commemoratives. Here’s some of it here.

The year and caliber is neat , not the pistol remodel . That right grip was cut at a junk angle to get that kind of checking and then a massive cover up repair .

No such thing as 1903 SAA in .38 Special. The .38 calibers in 1903 were .38 WCF and .38 Colt. This gun must have been rechambered as many were in the 30s-40s before it was engraved. They really need to show markings on left side of barrel and on cylinder faces to tell what it really is. But the value is in it being Elvis’ gun rather than a correct Colt, and I suspect that those who buy Elvis stuff don’t really care what it is.

Here is my wife holding the two guns that were mentioned in the description that is with the above SAA. We had them at our display at the NRA show in Nashville back in 2015. One is a K-frame S&W and the other a Python:

Cam
Not to nitpick, but I believe that is a K frame Smith.
