Without going into details, DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH SHOOTINGSTAR. Corresponding over 2 weeks for a SAA and wiring the money tuesday I have heard nothing since then. Turning the matter over to local and federal authorities. It was own undoing.I should have been more careful. Lesson learned.

I have been called niave, but several times I jumped to judgement I have found out people have been in the hospital or had some other thing if their life blow up (death in family, etc) where responding to a gun transaction fell off the priority list....I surely do not know what happened in your situation, but more than once I have had this happen so I tried to discipline myself to not always assume the worst....I hope everything works out fine for you.

Best way to get rid of issues like this is for the forum to open an escrow account and charge a few dollars for each transaction. It would make life a whole lot easier for the buyers,it would basically eliminate scammers, and it would help the forum make a few dollars, which I think is well deserved.

The holiday season is always iffy for sending/receiving packages/letters due to the sheer volume. I'd give it a few more days. I always try to put off transactions till after the traffic dies down. It would not be a good thing for anybody to have cops go hunting this guy down and then inform you that he'd been in the hospital for some emergency. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck!

I am waiting until tuesday to sign the criminal complaint. The funds according to the transfer showed delivered and picked up tuesday morning. After that-nothing. Iam giving it the full week.

Holiday interruptions of regular service then add the shear volume of UPS/FEDEX/USPS packages that was a record this year. Then factor in inclement weather than caused havoc throughout the States and you have a recipe for delayed delivery. Wednesday was a non delivery day/no banks open, thursday they are catching up and today is only friday. I'd err on the side of caution and give it at least until mid week of next week before filing charges. Continue to try to get in touch with the seller and let's hope for a positive outcome.

1. If money is wired (by a bank), it goes through the Federal Reserve, which MUST balance/close out each day. Of course, once the receiving bank has it, it may not get to the Branch until later, or to the account. That's why banks have a cut-off time for wiring funds.
2. Holidays impact people's schedules enormously. My office (a Federal Office) has only 2 people in and the building (several agencies) is down by 90%, at least.
3. Travel delays undoubtedly are keeping people on the road longer than the expected.

Could be a myriad of things.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about for what your friend did. Look none of us have a magic bowl that tells us what situation the seller is in. All we are asking is for the sellers to be a little more contentious and let the buyer know of the situation. Then it will be understandable, and acceptable. It seems like some sellers have plenty of time to send you pics, answer questions,chit-chat back and forth before the sale, till they get the funds in their hands, then it becomes a different ballgame. This is an ongoing problem, and if we don't do anything about it,it will get worse.

When it takes an auction company a couple of months to get you your package. One should not expect an individual to be able to do it in a holliday week. I call this the ebaying of the country. Everyone wants to pick the gun up through their screen. If the gun was sent through an FFL, it may still be boxed and waiting, for a pick up, by the shipper at the FFL location. No matter who it is, I always give them a month before freaking out.

I just joined this forum with the express purpose of finding a number of Colt firearms that I would like to add to my stock. I got tired of all the other sites where every add is a scam. I guess caveat emptor applies here just as much as anywhere else.

Are you sure you have the offenders screen name correct? There is no Shootingstar listed in the Forum members that I can find. Did you perhaps keep a link to the original FS posting or any of the correspondence. Perhaps if we knew the persons location someone here who lives close by could provide insight.

He or she is not listed in the members list, but if you do an advanced search using that screen name you will find some post by the individual.
