Lot 857: Colt, M1860, Relic - Louis J. Dianni, LLC | AuctionZip
I'm just not seeing it unless the rifling is "crisp and sharp"!
(figure the odds one of you guys likes it!)
There are a couple of other interesting offerings on the auction site...

Well, that Swiss lake Bugatti Type 22 went for $370,000 afterall.
There's quite an active market for 'dugups'. Friend of mine has a mess of them. No idea of price ranges but guess this one is in the ballpark. Too bad it wasn't found century and half ago to get my interest.
Is that whats called "Patina" ?
The one that I still think about today is a 32-20 Colt Single Action that I saw at a small gun show in the Texas Hill Country back in the late 1970's. It had been found on the Rio Grande, was rusted shut with the hammer in the full cock position over a live round and the last two rounds that had been under the hammer had been fired. The trigger had long since rusted away. I suspect that the owner/cowboy's body was either not too far from where the Colt was found, or he was located, but not the Colt. Probably was involved in a running gun battle on horseback and he lost! I tried to buy the gun, but it wasn't for sale at any price or at least what I could afford to offer at that time! Man, what a story that old Colt could tell!!!!!!!

Here's a relic I have. The serial number was still legible so I just had to letter it. Shipped December 1, 1892 to Simmons Hardware Company...oh well everyone needs at least one Simmons in their collection. Revolver

I have a s&w american that might be called a relic. It was found in a old barn being tore down at what was once a stage coach stop in montanna. The barrel had been cut back. Some old couple gave it to a friend of mine that he went to church with. They told him they wanted to give it to him as they knew he liked guns. Its a very low number and I figure it was made in 1870 or 1871. I gave him a nice old marlin mountie for it. Its functional but I never shot it. Sure wish I knew who had it and why they hid it. I wish I had pressed for better details and followed it backwards and talked to the people that gave it to him. He was a little vague about it, thought it was billings or maybe bozeman. Whatever, I feel a real gunman had it and cut it back from 8 inchs.

The ten .45 X 5 1/2 engraved with pearl went to Simmons. And then to the Dalton Gang. I would like to have one of those Simmons shipped SAA's!

Heck, most of us wish we only had one!!!!!!!!!! :D
I have several old junkers that I buried almost 30 years ago. I think I'll go dig 'em up and see if they've achieved "relic" status yet. I hope so, because I've already written a "story" to go with each one.

Here are my only two "relics". The Spencer was supposedly found in an old barn in eastern KS. The wood is bad, but the gun functions fine, even the bore is pretty good.

When I got the '66 it was in pieces. I put it all back together, but need a few new internals to function. Both are I guess of the "wallhanger"status.
