"Excavated Colt"

Here's a relic I have. The serial number was still legible so I just had to letter it. Shipped December 1, 1892 to Simmons Hardware Company...oh well everyone needs at least one Simmons in their collection.

I have a s&w american that might be called a relic. It was found in a old barn being tore down at what was once a stage coach stop in montanna. The barrel had been cut back. Some old couple gave it to a friend of mine that he went to church with. They told him they wanted to give it to him as they knew he liked guns. Its a very low number and I figure it was made in 1870 or 1871. I gave him a nice old marlin mountie for it. Its functional but I never shot it. Sure wish I knew who had it and why they hid it. I wish I had pressed for better details and followed it backwards and talked to the people that gave it to him. He was a little vague about it, thought it was billings or maybe bozeman. Whatever, I feel a real gunman had it and cut it back from 8 inchs.

Here are my only two "relics". The Spencer was supposedly found in an old barn in eastern KS. The wood is bad, but the gun functions fine, even the bore is pretty good.

When I got the '66 it was in pieces. I put it all back together, but need a few new internals to function. Both are I guess of the "wallhanger"status.
