Here's an interesting revolver from Joe Salter (item number 21151). It's an 1849 Pocket Model, a revolver which was discontinued in 1873, yet the ship date in the factory letter is 1889.

Interesting item, London Model 1849's were made until 1856. Must have been a special order to London from remaining Hartford inventory. As Nickel finish was somewhat scarce on the 49's, they probably had a few on the shelf in 1889 and grabbed one for that order.
The Colt S/N look up site comes up with 1871 as the date for this 1849 POCKET and it also states (.36 CALIBER) and the letter states .31 .

Very interesting.

I believe all the 49 Pockets were in .31,--- .36 was the Navy caliber as in the 51's Navies

The Colt site is wrong on the caliber. I typed in four serial numbers I have on 1849 Pockets and they all show .36 caliber, yet the Colt site says they are Model 1849 Pocket Revolvers, which were .31 caliber.
