Reciently found a 1914 production Argintine in a LGS. It was in the second shipment , the first going to the ship being built in the Massachusetts yard for the Argintine Navy . This pistol was in the second shipment ( 100) to the Philadelphia yard where the Moreno was being built . It is in very good condition with some kind of grey/ tan finish that I have only observed on one other Argintine 1911, a later Colt manufacture with the Schwartz devise .

David W,

Yes, those 1914 COLT Argentine NAVY Pistols are interesting. (It sounds like your Pistol was re-finished [parkerized],...they were delivered to the Battleships Rivadavia and Moreno with period COLT oven-blue.

Here's some old file pictures of one from the 1st 100. Apparently all original (minus a lot of wear). And, the Rivadavia.
