Heading to my favorite fun store to put some money down on this cool, and my first, Commando.





Just had a chance last night to snap a couple of pics.

Stocks have been modified by cutting the back corner off at a 45. Can't tell if it's to make a skull crusher pommel or to attach a lanyard.

Anyone seen this mod before?

This gun brings another question to mind, I used to own this re nickeled early post war OP with a round butt.



I was told that they were made from left over Commando frames, but all the pictures I'm finding of Commandos are square butt.

What's the story with round butts?

Maybe it was just chipped and they thought an angled cut looked better than a jagged edge.

Just realized I mixed up Commando with Marshall and answered my own question about the round butt.

After further research I think it is highly probable that someone modified this gun for the use of a lanyard.

Unfortunately they drilled a hole in the frame to accomplish this.

Here is a pic I stole from the internets.

New stocks would cover it up so I guess the next question is, How much are those stocks bringing in the open market?
