Frankford Arsenal was known for munitions and innovations but if you look through the back of Goddards "The Government Models" it shows one single shipment, out of all the shipments listed, going to Frankfort Arsenal PA. It was a 50 gun shipment in July 1913. Any ideas why they would have 1911's shipped there?

While I don't see them needing 50 pistols for testing, but like the other ammunition manufacturers Frankford Arsenal would have used the Model 1911 for testing ammunition.

I don't remember how many handguns were in a crate, but 50 seems about right. IIRC they were in two rows. Now I'm assuming they used similar crated then as we had in the 1970's.
