Ingnore the .22 conversion papers on the bottom of the picture as this gun does have a conversion with it.

Here's a picture of a .38 'mid range' I got in last night, in the 906x-MR serial number range. The small serial number guide I have in my parts box, lists an 'extra' letter in front of the MR , so it's NMR???? gotta research the dates further.............

I have 8XX-MR shipped January 24, 1961, and its original box is the regular telescoping wood grain box with the green inside and yellow end label with black lettering.

A very late gun may have come in a different box, perhaps even a "Trophy Box" like the one pictured. I do not know about the later guns.

I believe the serial number charts are wrong in regard to the later serial number ranges, but, until someone letters a late gun like the ones mentioned, I am not sure what will be revealed about shipping dates.

dant, is your gun a .38 or .45? The reason I ask is that the box types may be different, although I doubt it.

From the "sets" I had in the past from the late 60's the boxes were the "same" the manual and the nomenclature on them was what was different, the .45's said both .45 Mid range and 45 acp and the .38 mid range was that , and Colt called them "Targetmaster .38" I looked around and do NOT have any of the .38 manuals or the ammo and here is the .38 mid range I have now that I will be selling and the numbers do NOT match what I have in my Colt books as they are using the "N" in the serial number, such as 1234-NMR????? MIne is only "-MR" so I am confused now. The box that was with this .38 was the same as pictured above for the .45 but the numbers were marked on the cardboard outer sleeve and sorry ,we cannot find them, the mans daughter thinks she threw that all out after he had "passed away"....
