Has anyone had any experience with a gold cup trophy? I have one ordered but it hasn't come in yet. Would like to know if
they are as good as the old National Match which I have one of. It was made in 1958 and
though it has been used considerably is still in about 98% condition.

Only hits count!!!!

There was a blurb in one of the gunrags, a couple of years ago, that said Colt actually bought a pre-Gold Cup, National Match pistol from a collector, to use as an example of what they were trying to do with the Gold Cup Trophy. They had apparently forgotten how good of a gun they could make. When you get the gun, post something about the quality.

Just put a NIB SS Colt Gold Cup Trophy on layaway today at a nearby mega-sporting goods store. Price was $949.00. It looked good in the box, hope it shoots OK at the range. How does the Colt Gold Cup Trophy compare to Kimbers. What is the closest Kimber model. This is first new Colt that I have bought in ten years.
