I am looking for a good gunsmith to fix an old Colt Police Positive, it needs timing work and a re-blue job. Does anyone know of a good place to go to get this done?

I'll second sending it to Colt if they will work on it. I just got a Python back from them and they do beautiful work for the price. And seeing as how it is Colt everything is back to specs.

The only Colt repair facilities I will recommend are:

The Colt factory. I'm not sure if they still work on the older guns, but a quick contact will tell. They are usually the fastest, and cheapest.

Cylinder & Slide in Nebraska. VERY good, but slow and expensive.

Pittsburgh Handgun Headquarters

They used to do Colt's Warranty repair overflow.

If you value your Colt, trust NO ONE else.
Many people CLAIM to be qualified to work on the old Colt action, but few are.

I called them and a lady named Rosemary helped me. She was quite knowledgable and I am going to send it to her when I have a chance. The gun is still in a tank of Ed's Red.
