I must be senile! I see 0 shine on this pistol. I have a 1911 manufactured 03' that I bought from Mentallapse at a Colt show. Under good lighting, It's almost blindingly brilliant as far a shine and polish. Not a perfect one but an absolutely beautiful pistol. This one, other than the peacock blue on some small parts, Isn't even close.

That's a Type I (and a really early one at that).
The slide was either re-marked or came from a later Type I since it should have the single-date Browning's Patent marking.

Indeed. And it seems to me it should have the distinctive plunge cut serrations, if it is, in fact, as early as the frame appears to be. It is entirely possible that it is an assemblage of parts slapped together for the sake of making a commemorative, even if is not correct.
I think I like the Grail of External Rust better.
