Perhaps someone might be interested in this SMP contract magazine. On eBay ending in 15 hours.
Would have been nice to post the link to this....could not find it.
Perhaps someone was smart and snapped it up.

Sorry about that! Here it is 😉

Thanks, Found it.
Wording is a bit unusual, it did not show up on any searching.

One for a type II and a couple for type IIIs.
Wishful thinkin' I s'pose.......
All the same, no difference.

I think I will be the "Snapper Upper" on this one.

Successfully "Snapped" at $172.56"(tax, shipping included)
There was one other bidder who made 3 bids.
In past days these would often go for $300 or so.
First Colt related purchase in a long while.

Colt Factory Shanghai Police Mags have a different viewing hole arrangement.
Down the left front edge to show the bullet head.

and down the back side to show the primers.
749999

This was done to prevent empty shell's from being loaded to appear as live rounds.
Sneaky officers would sell live bullets and replace them with empty shells
so a regular mag would appear loaded upon inspection.
The different arrangment of viewing holes prevented this practice.

Sneaky, I suppose, but pretty stupid to go out with a magazine with empty cases in your own pistol. It must have been enough of a problem that the good Captains Sykes and Fairbairn had Colt to make the magazines that way. I would hope the men they had with them on their flying squads were above that sort of thing.

SMP Made Barrel Spring with Screw.

Colt Factory Made Barrel Spring.
Note slightly different shape and no screw.
Also Colt Lettering done higher on Slide so the
barrel spring does not cut through it.

All Officers received 2 full mags with the pistol at the start of their patrol.
Not always returned that way.LOL.

Colt M1908 109825 SMP-2885 1930
seen here with Rare Checkered Walnut Stocks,
that did not often survive the Harsh Shanghai environment.

Another unique feature of the SMP hammerless
is the Thumb Safety Lock-out screw....
usually removed when imported. (BATF)

Hey this seemed like the right place to post this but this is my new to me US property Colt 1903 w/ letter. Shipped to the US government on Dec 4,1944 shipment of 2000 to Brooklyn. Was wondering if anyone else might have another one part of the shipment or know more specifics on this? Thanks everyone and enjoy!
