I started by researching the archives from archives.gov federal property resources. Most of them are declassified but like all govt stuff it's convoluted. You hit a lot of dead ends. :) Fortunately I had a name from an obituary with some history in it. Some of the records haven't been digitized others are partially redacted.

Stumbled across this locally while purchasing another colt recently. Excellent condition without box or papers. What product would you recommend using to preserve this? Was planning to use CLP collector oil

I live a half mile up the street from the Atlantic. I make certain that my safe is dry, dry, dry, and service 'em when I use 'em. I take 'em all out during the year and wipe 'em down, and I give ' em a light lube if I field strip 'em.
I love Ballistol. I put that bleep on everything. Any good oil will get the job done. Just make sure your safe is dry.
