Bid in odd amounts - instead of $100 for a $75 item - bid $105.35.

You should get it for whatever exceeds the other bidder, provided you out bid him in the first place.

Better luck on your next auction.
You can try to out think and out manover the other bidders, you can bid early, bid late, bid even or bid odd. The bottom line is you have to bid the most to win. That's the real trick.

I may bid early or late. I don't think it matters one bit, your rolling the dice either way. Its just that sometimes when your " big genius over the top well thought out" bidding stategy works out, it makes you feel smart or like you have done something clever,,,, but in reality that's all just BS. The fact of the matter is you were just the man who bid the most. Its like when you guess at a multiple choice question and happen to get it right,, when you didn't have a clue in hell what the answer was. Its basically the same deal.

The 15 minute rule is a good way to wear another bidder down if it's a "bedtime" ending time. I do wait until it's the last minute and then reset the clock for another 15 minutes and I've so far got both auctions where I was willing to stay up and play the game and wore the other guy down so that he gave up and went to bed instead of waiting another 15 minutes to see if I was going to bid again. I guess in the end, they didn't want the items as much as I did. :)
I have put in a large enough proxy bid at times, I have made the other bidder stay up all night until he wore his self out trying to nickel and dime me 15 minutes at a time. It works both ways,,
