Hello I just stumbled onto this site via ar15.com. I have two Colt 1911's a few Colt ARs, and a Colt ist generation SAA that I'm trying to do a little research on. I hope you guys don't hate cops, I happen to be one in a major city, and I'm a very stong advocate of the 2nd ammendment.
I found a chart yesterday on the net and failed to bookmark it; it was a chart showing serial number groups of old Colt SAA to determine productin-can anyone help me find it again? Thanks

First off welcome to the forum ryann. As for cops I can't speak for others but some of my friends and relatives are cops. So you have at least 1 vote of confidence here.

Regarding the web site for S/N look up try: http://proofhouse.com/colt/ You should be able to date that 1st gen there.

Thanks a lot I just went to the site, my gun was made in 1899
