Hi,

I am new to this board but have been lurking for a while. I have learned a lot from everyone here. Thanks.

I have just purchased a Colt Python serial number E120XX, which I think was manufactured in 1970. The gun is in great shape but I have a question about the stocks. It has what dfariswheel describes as the fourth type with the straight border at the top with square corners. He states that the third and fourth type stocks were used from the early 70s to the late 90s. It seems to me that this gun if made in 1970 should have either the second or third type stocks. Do you all think these are the correct stocks for this gun or have the originals been replaced?

The 1970's dating is just an estimate.

No one seems to know EXACTLY when Colt first began using these grips, so it's likely they're original to your gun.
