Been shooting Rugers. Interested in the Colt's.

The 1851 and the 1873 have the same grip. I don't know how to explain the differences between them and the 1860 however.

The 1860 grip is longer.

If you have fired the very first Ruger Single Actions,also know as Flattops you have fired the same grip that the Colt SAA has.I've interchanged them many times.The larger grip frame was started with the Super Blackhawk period or shortly before.Too many guys were complaining about the kick even with the 357 Mag. hurting their middle finger,SOOoo Ruger changed it to a longer arc. Now they no longer fit both guns.I had a pair of Ivory grips I changed from time to time for looks.Heck I had to show them off they cost me a hundred bucks. Now they are worth five times that amount.
