Hi Colt collectors, do you know the signification of the different three numbers separate by hyphens that we could find on Colt gold foils labels ( top left) from circa 1976 to about 1986. See picture of my Colt SAA made in 1978, beginning of the SA prefix. Could be final inspectors, what's your opinion?

I believe the numbers seemingly written at random locations on Colt labels are dealer inventory numbers or numbers added by a previous owner. I do not believe they were done at the Colt factory. If you look at enough labels you will see these in many different styles, formats and locations.

Well, I saw on several boxes same locations with different numbers separate by hyphens during this period of time, maybe dealers numbers spreading to different gun shops. Any ideas...?
