Hello,

My dad lost what I believe was a Colt Scout K Series and it had either white or pearl grips on it. It was also nickel plated or stainless steel. It got destroyed in a house fire and I'd like to replace it for him. Below is pretty much exactly what it looked like, but it had white or pearl grips which maybe I could get those separately and put those on. Any help would be much appreciated in finding one. Thanks! Matt

Frontier Scout

The nickel plated Frontier Scouts came from the factory with the plain wood stocks (grips) as in your photo. The white or pearl grips were probably added later. These grips are still available and I see them offered for sale from time to time on eBay and GunBroker. They are reasonably priced and relatively common.
On the other hand, Colt made quite a few commemorative guns on the nickel Scout and some of them probably had white or pearl grips. If you can find a copy of Condry & Jones book on the Colt commemorative guns, it has photos of all the commemorative guns from about 1960 to 1986. Your father's gun may have been one of these.
(By the way, Colt never made any single action revolvers in stainless steel.)

If you are going to replace it, and shoot it, look for one made after 1964 with the barrel pin, they were addedto keep the barrel from shooting loose. If you want white grips, go to SackPeterson grips and get either plain white elk or bone pattern grips, with a silver medallion. You can also find on gunbroker, white pearl , poly ivory, or my favorite ,white horse and eagle grips

I have a similar one except for the grips. I think mine was made in 1960. I traded into this one about 30 years ago. I only took it out once and put her back in the safe. The gun is fine but the bright nickle front sight gave me trouble. The grips on my dont fit well either, might be they shrunk with age. I notice those stags on that one for sale fit like mine too.

I believe that the black eagle grips on your pistol are not original to the gun and are actually from the later G-series Peacemaker 22 and New Frontier 22.
