Hello, I am a tech at JPL in Pasadena Calif. And I need to know if anyone has tried a minie ball for their 36 cal. 1851 Navy revolver.

Welcome. I've used comical bullets with no problem and they were used during the period also.

Well it's not really rocket science you know - - oh you do know - - my bad.

Even "Rocket science" involves mostly common sense.
I realized my question left out several details.
The round ball used commonly by Navy shooters, is 79gr.
The minie ball for the same 36 cal. is 130gr.
The heavier projectile may "kick" more causing the grouping to be higher, or maybe just larger?
Or would the conical bullet be more aerodynamic causing a tighter grouping?
