Just a quick intro.
I am interested in old west era guns and have just bought an incomplete 1877.
It is missing pretty much most of its internals. I know most folks say that these are delicate guns that most gunsmiths wont touch but I want to give it a go.
Currently I am on the hunt for a hand for a 38 cal revolver.

Welcome to the Forum from (northern) South Texas!
Sky Cloud Window Nature Wall

There are several folks here who are quite knowledgeable about working on the 1877's. There is an active thread right now in the Colt Revolvers section.

Good luck with yours!!

Welcome to the Colt Forum! We’re always glad to welcome another rider into the posse.

I’ll suggest you post as many photographs of your new gun as possible. Let’s see what you got.

There’s a member here, goes by the name of Lever Action Bill. I’ve never had any work done by him, but others have. He’s well known for giving old SAAs a second life. Never heard anyone complain about his work.

I don’t know if he is still in the business, but the brother of one of the best gunsmiths on antique Colts David Lanera, used to do 1877s repair and allegedly had a lot of parts also. I‘m sorry I don’t have any info about where he is,
welcome to one of the best forums ever!
