Well, the Gen 2 Glock 19's have a following and do bring a premium for Glock's. The U notch magazines are desirable for collectors, yet mostly worthless for cow unless you find yourself in the arctic snow or doing mag changes on your boat over water, as they don't really drop free.

None of this warrants that crazy insane price though!! I've seen mint, unfired Gen 2 19's with old tupperware case, matching sticker and extra's sell around $800-850. Looks like a few that were badly wanting one, were up late last night, perhaps had a few extra cups o courage and desire and went to full on credit card war!

Why??? Why would somebody pay so much for a Glock? I do NOT understand. Lol!

Does this one come with some kind of significant Military/celebrity provenance? Serial number 1? One off prototype? Can't wrap my head around this.

Looks pretty special to me. It's too damn bad that others cannot appreciate the rarity of this pistol.

Look a little closer and you will see that this is one of the all-black versions. Besides that, it has the lightweight polymer frame as well as the highly desirable; safety-in-the-trigger/trigger-is-a-safety features.

Furthermore and adding bigly to the value... The tag tells us that this is #168 of 3 of 88!o_O

I guess I have destroyed the collector value of my very early Glock 19 by putting on Heinie sights and feeding the plastic sights to wood chipper. I am so disheartened.
It's not too late to cash in though. There are still a fair amount of those rare sights around for restorers to re-build retirement fund guns.

Wait.... You haven't 'stippled' yours out of contention for the big payday.... have you?:ROFLMAO:

Speaking of which - what EVER did I do with my original guide rod when I put the laser in? Someday, someone's gonna be on a Glock site bemoaning that I had 'ruined' the "collector's value".;)

I talked to the dealer that is selling it He got an FFL from the buyer and a MO in being sent.
It'd be interesting to see if this transaction is fully followed through and if so - what's the score on that obscene number?
Aside from potential shilling - which is OH SO common in all forms of auctioning anymore - it took at least two 'bidders' to get that number up there.

So - if this is all above board - at least TWO folk thought this was worth that kind of money along with buyer's premium and mail/shipping costs plus whatever the transfer FFL might charge.

A Gen 2 Glock 19 is arguably the pinnacle of the Glock design and the ultimate expression of the form. I have one myself, and I don't think anything Glock has introduced since the Gen 2 is a true improvement on the basic design or the concept of what a Glock pistol is or should be. They have reached an iconic, almost cult status, but it is surprising that it would translate to that high a price as they are not particularly rare or hard to find.

Talked with a fellow last week who accidentally shot a hole in the kitchen floor. I mentioned before being almost shot by an accidental Glock discharge and other Glock accidental discharges. Wonder how many don’t go reported. People tell me all the time what a great gun it is. There are safer designs, but each to their own $3,000 gun.

A close and personal friend of mine got Glocked by his own side-arm. In a tussle with a street miscreant, the fella got behind him and went for his gun, the 2nd Cop was something of a 3rd-Responder;) and when my pal was faced with turning and squaring off or keeping the turd from pulling his gun... he reflexively forced the pistol back to the holster and the street-turd's finger was on the trigger. Buy MALO!

Took over a year to recover from the course that bullet took down his leg.

Holy Moly! I had no idea they were even collectible. I have a mostly unmolested Gen 2 G19 (added tritium night sights). Also have one or two U notch mags (somewhere- they should be about like new, I sought and bought some GOOD drop free Glock mags for it). I also have a Gen 2 G17. Also have Gen 4 and Gen 5 19s (didn't like the Gen 3, felt too fat in the hand). And I'm not really even a Glock guy. But they go bang. every. frickin'. time.
