Just bought a stainless 380 gov\'t
After looking at it at a local gun shop the last couple of weeks I finally gave in and bought an excellent condition Stainless Steel Colt .380 Government, I get to pick it up next week. It has an RSxxxx serial number and it has the yellow spring clip in the mag well. I plan on calling Wolff at the first of the week and order a kit to change out the springs and will probably sooner or later make a full length spring guide and matching end plug since the McDougals aren't available. Is the full length rod guide necessary or does the standard guide work ok. I can probably duplicate the plastic guide in stainless but the full length one could be harder. Can anyone give advice as to any problems such as jamming or mis-feeding I should know about? I checked the slide stop and it seemed to fit ok and from the feel of it there is a spring detent or something as it seemed to lightly snap into place when fully seated.
Are there any loads I should avoid with this particular model? I thought I would try Federal Hydro-Shoks (first choice?) or Speer Gold Dots and perhaps Cor-Bon. I thought about Silver Tips but I am thinking that there is something better now.
Lastly, I need a manual for my pistol. Does anyone know if Colt will send me one?
