Congrats on your Series 70!If you plan to shoot it a great deal, I suggest that you take it to a gunsmith and have the collet [has 4 pre tensioned "fingers"] barrel bushing replaced with a solid barrel bushing. When I was using a Series 70 as a back up gun, I had mine fail on the range after a round was fired and one of the "fingers" of the collet broke off and jammed up the pistol - necessitating a field stripping to clear it. I had about 3,000 rounds through it at the time. The collets can be swapped out at any time.It is something to consider if you plan to carry it as a defensive pistol.
The new Series 70s have solid barrel bushings, no more collets since the originals...so, no need to worry.

Congrats on your first Colt. And welcome to the Colt Forum. My first Colt was a blue Series 70, Government that I purchased used from a friend back in the early 1980s. It was an awesome pistol. Funny thing is that Colts seem to reproduce themselves over, and over again. Again, Congrats!
