King Cobra with \"Options\"

I recently acquired a King Cobra in stainless steel with a 6" barrel that is ported, has a vented rib, and the crown looks like a Python barrel altho it has the King Cobra markings on the barrel. Is this a specially modified gun, or just a production type gun with all the options?

With Colt, it's hard to say.

Colt did offer all kinds of limited production guns, I just don't remember any with porting, vents, and a Python muzzle.

I know there were companies that offered such alterations as after-market conversions.

Of course, you could get pretty much anything you wanted from the Colt Custom Shop, as a special order.

Probably, the only way to know for sure is to spend the $75.00 for a Colt Historical Letter.

I think you're right. The only way to know for sure is to bite the bullet and pay for a little of Colt's research.
