Hi, my beloved and very smooth Officer's Model Target heavy barrel .38 pops about 4/6 primers in DA mode... what's a good source for a new hammer spring?

I cant say for certain but I would try Numrich gun parts. 866- NUMRICH

As I recall, Jack First manufacture an exact replica of the Colt spring. Most spring you find these days will be replicas due to the supply of genuine Colt parts drying up:

Over a year ago I bought one from GP/Numrich, so they had them then, and fairly cheaply. It worked fine. I used what was sold by them as a Python spring, but it fit and worked in my .357 OK, and would likely also work in any OP or Army Special, as they all look to be the same spring. What might also work is bending one of the limbs outward from the middle (not at the end with the sharp bend). I did that once, and it worked for quite awhile, but finally returned to having misfires. Re-hardening the spring would probably prevent that.
