Literally A barn find SAA

My favorite pawn shop owner called me the other day and said a old man was in his shop trying to sale a SAA.
So I drove to his shop and got a big shock. The old man had the worst condition SAA i have ever seen. It was solid rust
and the ejector housing was gone and it had Duck Tape and black electrical tape wrapped for grips. Very deeply pitted.
The old man said it belonged to his grand father and that he had a place in the barn that he kept the gun in to shoot hogs. well about 20 years ago the barn was blown down in a storm. The old man said his grand son came for a visit and crawled in the old barn and found the pistol. He said he wanted to sale it and was asking $500.00 for it.
every one told him he would be lucky to get $50.00 for it. Then he started saying he needed the money for a DR bill. I picked it up and saw it was a 41 caliber. So I offered him $200.00 and he took it. SO here are my before and after pictures. P.S. it was made in 1910

You never know what's hiding in those old barns. SAA #1 was also found in a barn in NH in the early 1900s

Thanks Newtire Yes i might try to run a few rounds through it if I could find any rounds I have been all over the internet . Every one is sold out or discontinued.
Starline has brass I'll bet. The color next to it indicates that you can backorder. In my experience, when it says that, I've had it in hand within a week or so.

Daz Paris It was complete except for the ejector assembly the trigger and cylinder stop spring and the grips.
So I only had to put another couple hundred bucks in it. I was lucky some lady put a group of about 75 SAA parts that came from Brownell on E-Bay and I got it for $102.00. the packet had all screws and small parts and springs in it

I used G96 Brand Cold Blue Cream. It also comes in a liquid but I like the cream best. with any bluing process the cleaner and more polished the steel is the better the blue job. You also have to totally degrease the metal or it will
not blue.

A very well-done job - glad to see it found someone who could not only appreciate it but give it the care it deserved.
