I replaced a 25 year old upland coat and vest last year and ended up with a Pella strap vest and an LL Bean Gore-Tex jacket. I didn't see many vests with external loops during my search. I really like the strap vest as it has a space for hydration pack for the dog and easy front load game bag and I can carry two boxes of shells in the pockets. The support belt and strap adjustments let me adjust the load I'm carrying which makes a lot of difference on those long walks in South Dakota. Pella is an American company.
