Oh my that looks nice. I have been on the look out for a nice pair of mammoth grips but have not found a set that I just had to have.

Chinnock's web site looks nice but never seem to have anything in stock to choose from.

Here is a question...I assume that one should not fire a pistol with mammoth grips due to possible cracking? Fact or fiction?

You have to camp out on the day he posts them to get access to a pair. Also Dan swears that they are very durable and can be used for everyday use with no problems. He said he has only had one pair returned that cracked. Lucky for me the wife doesn't shoot this one that much….

A friend of mine who made grips from Mammoth Ivory before he passed away once told me that when he would buy say 10 pounds of Mammoth Ivory, he would have to discard most of it as unfit for use. When one chooses quality parts of such material, it can probably last quite well. I seem to recall that he used to infiltrate the cracks in the ivory with Superglue (Cyanoacrylate) in order to stabilize it. From him, I understood that there is great variations in the usability/quality of Mammoth Ivory.

Ray, I will have to wait until the wife is out of the house to reinstall the grips and take some more photos….Birthday is early Dec…she hasn't seen them yet.
Hope she doesn't suddenly join the forum :)

I saw it in person and it looks even better.....if that is even possible. The web site has a sold set of mammoth ivory with sapphire blue in it and they look amazing. I guess for 550 they better. Will save up for those.
