The picture below shows the back of a pair of later Type 3 stocks. I have always been curious as to the reasons for some of the manufacturing marks.

I assume the pin holes were from a jig that held them in place while the finish was applied. Could the larger indentation above the screw holes be evidence of the router plunge cut? What about the writing?

I think the holes are a relief cut for the rebound lever pin and the numbers are so they are matched after finishing.

I am not a pro,i have looked at quite a few stocks on colts,and never saw any holes.
