And another little piece of obscure lore! This is what makes this site so useful and important.
Like I said: I learn something new every day.
I was not aware that Tokarev would run in a C-96. I was, however, aware that the 9mm C-96 should not be fired using SMG specific rounds.
In spite of the unforeseeable areas that were subject to heavy battering when incorrect ammo was used, the pistol is a unique design that was a commercial success in the days when self-loading pistols were something completely new, and often complicated, cumbersome, and troublesome.
I did due diligence in my research when I started out, and it does no harm to conduct inspections from time to time.

The mainspring in these is way down inside the guts of the (completely detatchable en bloc) lockwork, and is the primary resistance to the rearward travel of the bolt. The spring in the bolt is strictly a light weight bit whose sole purpose is to close the bolt. It offers negligible resistance in recoil.
The question I have is, will a new mainspring slow the action down enough to minimize battering of the bolt stop and barrel extenstion?
And also, will a lighter load that still cycles the action be an advantage in terms of wear & tear?
Perhaps both?

HooRah!

Some 7.63 Mauser ammo is loaded hot as well.I have around 500 rounds of Sellior & Bellot ammo that was sold as surplus years ago.I fired a couple of rounds in a broom handle and decided to only shoot it thru a CZ-52.I never chronographed it but my broom handle didn't like it.
I wonder if 7.63 Mauser was ever loaded for automatic weapon type pressure & velocity?
Or more to the point, were there automatic pistols for it?
