Hi all, I'm a new member and recently picked up a well used model 1878 at a gun show. The fellow I bought it from said someone had turned it into a "belly gun".

The barrel had been cut down, the sear removed, and the hammer bobbed. Thought it was a worthwhile project. The revovlver was man. in 1892. I need a few

parts, ie. sear, sear spring, and ejector rod end or cap. Does anyone have these Parts? Also I have been reading previous posts on cylinder lockup. Is the pin in the loading gate supposed to be round? My cylinder will rotate with the hammer down, and I noticed the pin looked like it was worn not round. THanks for any in fo you may have.

Hey there Sledman;

As far as working on an old Colt, I would recommend you take it to a good gunsmith for any parts installation. Unless you have excellent knowledge of the internal workings of a Colt (or any other gun for that matter), take it to a specialist.

Parts can be had by Googling "Colt 1878" parts or "gun parts" There's a good supply of Colt parts at "Peacemaker Specialists" in Paasco Robles, California. They have the part, and they'll do the work. Here's a link for them at least: Colt Single Action Army Revolver- Edward Janis, colt single action, peacemaker, single action army, colt, colt single action, colt pistol, colt revolver, colt gun

Anyway, those are my suggestions but there are many others on this forum that could tell you other ways to get what you want.
