Here are the pics of the Model M magazine safety disconnector you asked me about as pictured in a factory cutaway. One can see how sometimes the front edge of the follower of the earliest style magazines can catch on this part.

I'm probably just lucky, but the Version IV magazine that came with my .380 Hammerless works fine. It withdraws from the grip frame just as well as the Version VII I bought recently.
