Hi Folks,

This might be a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. Earlier this month I acquired this Army Special manufactured in 1922. Its quite a nice pistol and was part of a set offered at one of my local shops. The guns were not consecutive, but had relatively close serial #s. On the bottom of each pistol, there was "MPD" roughly scratched or engraved on the butt. This is not very professional looking stamping or engraving, but I understand that the Memphis PD marked guns in this manner and issued Army Specials and their OP siblings until the 1950s. Of course a letter from Colt may clear this up, but has anyone encountered a pistol similarly marked? I can take photos this evening.

Thanks!
