Took the 5 1/2" New Frontier .44 Special to the range this morning. Have had some trouble finfing my favorite, Winchester 231, but HP-38 is the same thing. Here is my latest load using HP-38:

Not too shabby for such a new revolver. Today's session put it t the 380 rounds fired mark.

My understanding is that this newest version can take hotter loads than those before, that is if I recall something I read recently(?).

I keep all mine on a business card at 25 yards with a standard SAA. My new frontier one-holes them at that distance. I use 7 grains of Unique behind a 240 grain cast.

Bob,

That is a beautiful gun. Nice shooting.

FYI, I haven't found any 231 or hp-38 in my area for a few months and recently was turned onto Greendot. I really like it. It's been great in my 45's and is suppose to be excellent in the 44 special.
