I have lusted after one for a long time......finally just sold my Ruger SR1911 and bought a new GCT. She shoots great right out of the box.
But as usual I have to make things my own, so a front fiber optic sight and two white glow dots on the rear for my old eyes, a set of nice Rosewood grips w/Pachmayr finger grips, a C&S Sear spring that brought her down to 4 lbs pull.

I know you'll enjoy it. My GCT has become my go-to .45 at the range. 200gr SWCs loaded in a nice, light recoiling target load, and she'll shoot all day long without a hiccup. I've still got the Colt 100 year rubber grips though, seeing yours reminds me I need to put those away somewhere and get something better on it.

Did you get rid of the Ruger just out of economic expediency? I've been thinking about trying one of the commander-sized SR1911s.

Yes, I used the Ruger to help pay for the GCT. I owned the Ruger for about two years and it was a very nice 1911.......but it was just a temp in my lust for a Colt. I have not shot a SR1911 Commander, but Ruger builds strong firearms that do what they need to do. I still have my Ruger .22 Mark III SS Hunter and my Ruger Blackhawk SS 7.5" .357. The Hunter is a real tack driver and the Blackhawk is built like a tank.
