They're beautiful pistols. I collect mostly Colt, but I want to have at least one each of the more legendary S&W's. I'm also a "cult" follower of the model 57, my favorite Smith. I still need a model 27.

Beautiful gun.

manderson:

1)Thanks for the complement!

2)Yes, this is a beautiful Model 27-2 for sure! It came in a wood presentation case.

3)I wish you great luck in finding a Model 27 for your collection soon! I had to keep looking for what had seemed like forever, until I had found this one!

4)I just saw a mint(Blued)8-3/8" barrel S&W Model 57 last week!

You know, we really shouldn't be doing this on a Colt forum. Or at least we should be in the Lounge.

Anyway, here's my 8-3/8" model 57. They don't get any more mint than this. One of the first pistols I ever bought.

There was a time when the M 27-2 did indeed reflect the kind of polishing we all appreciate.
This one shipped in 1966, and is as fine a blue-and-polish as I see on the Python or the registered magnum.
All that being said, the Python's action is, IMHO, still the smoothest thing since butter!
