I just got this one. #84716X. About 85% due to holster wear. Not fired much. CD 15 stamped on butt, likely police trade-in. I now have a craving for one in 22cal and a Model 357.

That, Sir, is a nice piece! You don't see many OP's nearly that well-preserved ... I don't think many occasional/sportsman shooters bought them. They usually rode around in police holsters and got rained on and fallen on and knocked about rather rudely. This IS the Elliot Ness gun from Tv and the movies, you know! The OP is to uniform cops, night shift and chasng fast-running kids up alleys at midnight what the more glamorous Detective Special is to Jack Webb, fedoras, black 49 Fords and stakeouts . If our guns could talk, eh?

I agree 'rc'. There's romance in these old Colt double actions. I don't know if they'll ever achieve the fame of the SAA but the romance is certainly there if you think about it. Ben
