N.C. Ordnance Stocks

I was a bit hesitant to post this due to the desire of certain folks to present aftermarket Colt parts as original, but curiosity has gotten the better of me. Has anyone seen the reproduction Type 1 (full checkered) stocks made by this outfit? The picture makes them look good, and the only information I found in a google search was GUNKWAZY posting about them in 2007. He apparently saw them in person and thought they were very close copies of the originals. At $300 they are not cheap, but I do like the look and would consider getting a set for a shooter Python of mine to spruce it up a bit.

I can't speak to the stocks in the photo, but I have purchased a couple pairs of their other walnut stocks - the first for a New Service, that are pretty badly undersized, and another set for a Model M (pocket auto) that took me a couple of hours and a Dremel to get to fit. The included escutcheon stuck out 1/4" and had to be ground down also. It is nice quality walnut, but don't expect them to fit like OEM. For three bills, I would get real Colt. Your results may vary.

That sounds in line with what I'd expect; it's just that the photo makes them looks like really well done knockoff's.
Wouldn't be the first time that original equipment's been passed off as what was available for sale.

I'd surely hope that it wasn't the case, but I've grown cynical in my old age...
I bought a set. Not as good as shown. His add states money back. He made good on that statmqnt.

For future reference and the possibility of recommending or not recommending these, how were they not as good as shown?
The ones I got about 2 years ago did not fit frame w/o much fitting and the wood was still wet and very heavy and dark. Had a wierd smell like freshly cut oiled tree. Not nice so returned.
FWIW, I bought a style correct molded set of panels from this vendor for one M1903 that came with pearls as I didn't want those damaged during firing or at the range. The panels did not come with the escutcheons nor screw so I purchased those at the same time. As mentioned by Bushwhacker they need to be fitted to the panels, not mentioned when I talked to the owner, by (filing/dremel). With other projects in the works I put off the fitting so I still have reproduction panels and the hardware in a bag, somewhere.

I ended up purchasing an original set from a forum member. If I had it to do over I'd stick with original and forego the reproductions. My lesson learned.
