I'm trying to help a friend establish a value on a 1849 Pocket Model. I'm assuming that it is rather rare, in that it is .36 caliber, rather than .31. One source has referred to it as a 1865 Pocket Model. The barrel is 4 1/2", Serial No. is 103xx, all numbers match, and it is in very good mechanical condition - cylinder index timing is excellent. There are faint traces of original bluing. Can send pics. on request. Any help would be appreciated.

Without pictures, it is hard to pinpoint your revolver. However, if .36 cal, it is not a Model 1849, but a 1862 Pocket Pistol of Navy Caliber. Made from 1861 to about 1873. Came .36 cal, 5 shot, barrel lengths 4 1/2, 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 inches. Circa 1862 production as they were numbered contemporanous with the 1862 Police....Jim
