Need to get to the bottom on this. I have been told the whole gamut of explanations.
Made by Colt . Made as a replacement grip for the military . Made as an aftermarket replacement part. ?
What's the real deal ?




They look like Franzite but don't say that anywhere on them.

Looks like factory to me. Colt used them from the later 1940s through about the mid-'50s on many lines of handguns...not all though.

I could certainly use them as well...square butt D-frame Coltwood stocks are not that easy to find in good shape. The round butt examples are quite common by comparison.
