Hello all, I just purchased a used 1911 series 80 government mkiv in stainless steel SN SS042XX. It came with both wood and pachmayr rubber grips and also 2 mags no box. Can someone help me with manufacture date and tell me if I paid too much? I paid 450 OTD

Looks like you have a first year stainless Government Model.
Production of the stainless steel Government Model began in 1984.
Serial numbers started at SS01001 in 1984.
1985 started at SS06183.

Unless the gun is a complete wreck you got a real steal.
According to my older Blue Book your gun in only 60% original finish condition would be $490.
If it's in better condition you robbed whoever sold it to you.
